Well, its finally here!
Our New Spring/Summer 2015 Couture Color Collection. We have fresh ideas on the new FREELIGHTING technique that mimics nature with the balayage or ombre effect. Our new collection will be sought after with a flurry of calling so get your new color on for the season.

To give you a few ideas of what is in store for all of us at Indulge Salon York Pa and Indulge Salon Greensboro, GA, we are introducing sone really cool powdery colors called Matte

Gloss that gives off a powdery finish. In some instances these Matte Color glosses will ELIMINATE the brassy orange tones, yellow unwanted tones that seam to crop up after you have had your color for a period of time. I know because I an not digging the yellow unwanted shades that start creeping in because lets face it color fades. Its artificial but it fades. I’m ok with it because I like change lately. I was just getting tired of me. I know you have the feeling once in a while right?

of the newest Indulge tones called Smokey Amethyst. At first you will see a little bit of a pale lavender tone. Barely noticeable but what I really enjoyed was the toning out process over the next few days. My color was soft and powdery looing that just made my skin look better and my hair feel thicker.

We can even add a pale blushing pink tone to red hair, auburn hair that leaves the hair feeling soft and toucable. Try one of these newest shades to change up your look. Even my sister after all of these years doesn’t like big changes. Well the last time I introduced blue Storm, Vivid Muted Mauves, she was not quite ready but she let me have my way with her hair and it turned out beautiful. She enjoyed it and now the benefit to her is that she doesn’t have to have her highlights done every single visit. She loves her blonde hair with some darker roots at the scalp. This cool Couture Color allows her to go every other visit to update her new look with highlights, ombre, balayage or whatever we want for her new look. Check out the photos. I ran across this article regarding athletes that have better performance in their sport with regular pedicures. This made perfect sense to me especially with the golfers that frequent our salon on the S. George Street location.

The general population feel that pedicures are for women or a “girly” thing which we know that has zero foundation. My son-in-law actually has pedicures with my daughter as together time and she loves it. She loves that he takes care of his feet and she loves the time that they spend together.

Professional men need this need this sport pedicure to remove the dead skin build up on the bottom of the feet after months of being stuck inside those basket ball shoes, golf shoes that get wet once in awhile with a rain storm. Couple of reasons why men should have pedicures are listed here:

1. removes the foul foot smell that will work up to a “leave your shoes outside” comment from your special other. The foul smell comes from not cleaning the feet properly, not cleaning the underneath part of the toes that collect bacteria along with sweat, dirt and general dirt buildup.

2. proper cleasing of the toenails, the disinfectants that are used to kill bacterial from underneath the nails and surrounding tissues.

3. buffing the calloused heels, sides of the feet that were build up from strength training and endurance runs that eventually helped protect the bones but there comes a time when we need to buff those down to a smooth service. Your partner will thank you.

4. relaxing massaging of the leg and calf muscles to reduce tension. Why not? If feels good and again your partner will appreciate your good nature when you are finsihed.

5. no need for polish. A nice buffing will do. Actually that is my favorite part is the buffing block that is used with a special oil to really bring out the shine naturally.

Lets take one of my special clients Vincent Reedy. He has been a client a client of mine for years. Originally, he was seeking out a salon that would be able to duplicate a look he saw in a magazine. He was searching for a creative stylist to cut his hair the way he wanted.

At our appointed time, the first step that happens is Vincent fishes out a photo from his pocket. It’s always the newest hair style for men that inspired him. You see Vincent is a really creative director at Holberg Designs. The company creates branding for companies, creates and designs websites, helps companies develop strategies in their branding pieces. By now you are understanding that Vincent has a creative streak and knows what he wants and how to project his individuality and uniqueness. He is a family man with an awesome wife and two cool kids. Just because he is a family man doesn’t mean he has to be boring.

Our last appointment this week, I  was so excited to see him because I had this great look that I saw in an article which inspired me to suggest

this newest clippered, textured haircut for him. Creating his individual look was easy for me because I know him and his textured hair. Customizing a haircut requires strategy in cutting angles on the  flat planes of the hair. We have the specialized haircutting techniques to cut angles on a curved surface. I know it may look easy but really the type of creative work we do takes focus on the details.

Sometimes its the simplest of things that will trigger an idea, a look that will look great on a person such as Vincent. I read this article about these unique barbers that basically are artists in their own right that have a list of the type of barbering cuts that the men can choose from when they visit this barber shop. This barber shop called “The Scumbags of Rotterdam” were showcased in a trade magazine called Behind the Chair. This barbershop has no appointments, you have to wait your turn and wait in line. They aren’t interested in the newest and greatest, they are interested in the art of the haircut. Pick one and we will do it. That’s it. I have the ultimate respect for the art of the barbered haircut.
