In the salon industry, do you know one of the very first sure signs of spring? A rush of clients scheduling skin peels (also called chemical peels). Yep, we always see a flurry of activity around this time of year of people that want a serious treatment that will help improve the pigmentation of the skin, and reduce the appearance of acne scars, mild sun damage, large pores, and fine wrinkles.
Because our skincare specialists at Indulge Salons will not perform these treatments as it gets closer to the sun filled days of summer, the rush is on now! Skin peels are a serious procedure that removes the top layer of skin. Because of the resulting “new skin” that is left is considerably more susceptible to sun damage and skin discoloration, we stop scheduling peels as spring days get warmer and start beckoning all of us to spend time outside. It is important to seriously limit sun exposure for at least three weeks after a peel, and despite your promises and best intentions, that’s just too hard for most of us to do once the weather is really nice.
Indulge Salons offer a variety of peels in different strengths to address different key skincare issues. This article explains in greater detail what the differences are and what you should consider in this type of skincare treatment.
I’m loving the extra daylight at the end of the days since we moved the clocks ahead, but boy is it ever hard to get going in the mornings when it stays dark until after 7:00am!!! I remind myself as the alarm goes off each morning that it gets lighter just a little bit earlier every day, but I still hate to leave my warm, comfy bed before the first signs of light.
Speaking of the first signs of light … I hope you made it in to our Colour Explosion Party this past weekend. And I hope we were able to give your hair some spring highlights or perhaps the new Illumina hair color we’ve just introduced that incorporates 4-5 different shades of light and color for an incredible look that mimics sunshine playing in your hair!!! We did a lot of Illumina color on Saturday and I’m more excited than ever about it!
If you missed out, you can still schedule an appointment for fresh spring color at either of our York salons by calling 846-4424 or 718-4465. Don’t forget all of the other services offered at Indulge to get you ready for spring–facials, chemical peels, manicures, pedicures, and so much more. In the coming weeks I will highlight some of the best we have to offer to have you looking and feeling your best for the first warm days of spring. I can’t wait ….
My assistant is one of the most organized and detail oriented people I know. She actually has a checklist for holiday entertaining that starts 10+ days before the family dinner she is hosting. Now, these family dinners are no small ordeal … 12–15 people, family and friends, some of whom come for the weekend, gather for an extravagant meal at a table set with the family china and silver, stemware (a red, a white, and ice water at each setting), the beautiful centerpiece, and of course the food. She admits that despite her very best efforts to be organized, to be prepared, and to delegate, by the time she sits down to the main event meal—she is exhausted: thankful for the blessings being shared by friends and family and grateful for the love that surrounds them, but exhausted by the time it is all but cleaned up.
Tomorrow is my 22nd Annual Colour Explosion Party. Part of me is exhausted just thinking I’ve been doing this that long! But ya know, the fun and excitement of this day every year carries me through. It’s grown into a bigger and better party every single year, and like with holiday entertaining, we’ve developed some checklists, and I’ve learned to delegate some important tasks to make it easier to enjoy. Shout out to the Indulge Salons awesome staff for all they do every day, but especially for this special day that we set aside for the Colour Explosion Party! I couldn’t do it without you!!
If you have an appointment to join us—I cannot wait to see you and hope you have as much fun as we do each year.
Check back in with us next week as I start a “spring clean” series!
